She was born in Roswell on the 29th of March 1985. Gerina Michelle Mendoza was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican daughter of Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, was birthed in Mexico. The mother of two is a Mexican by blood however she has an American nationality. Her desire to play sports started as a young child. Gerina began golfing when she was the age of 15. Gerina completed her high school education at Goddard High School. She was the winner of at the New Mexico State Golf Tournament in her high school years. In addition to playing volleyball, she also competed at an official level. In the year 2003 she began her studies at the University of Texas. While in her senior years, she won each tournament she entered. In the course of her undergraduate studies she was awarded the title as Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the Years.
